  • Interesting article, but he has an obvious blind spot: a lot of liberals around the world also criticize Israeli policy.

Heck, most liberal Israelis I know absolutely abhor Netanyahu.

The criticism on Israel stems from human rights considerations and international law, not wokeism. All those 150 countries who voted for a cease fire in the UN can hardly be described as woke.

But yes, the issue is polarizing and it really wouldn’t surprise me if Trump wind in 2024.

  • Censorship is never the answer.

There are more than a billion Muslims in the world. Obviously, Bin Laden is an idiot. But within those billion Muslims there are enough other idiots that share his way of thinking. Enough that things like Hamas and ISIS are real threats to our societies.

I, for one, do not wish to engage in a holy war against these idiots on behalf of an Apartheid regime.

Neutrality in holy wars is a perfectly reasonable position to take.

If Netanyahu wants to desecrate their mosque, steal their land and kill their children, then we should condemn that. Not support it.

Our governments are painting a red flag on our backs and inflaming the stupid bull.

    This will not end well.

  • Well, nobody is blocking them from joining a native tribe somewhere.

But those societies tend to have an even higher level of social control than what typical westerns think. And many also had regular skirmishes with bordering tribes back in the day.

What you are looking for is exactly the “big tract of land recently cleared of dispossed natives”.

Normally, on earth, there just aren’t big tracts of fertile land free for the taking.

It only seemed that way for colonials because they didn’t see what the army did the five years before they got the land.

  • What I really want to see is a way to connect USB-C plugs with existing common cabling (either 2 or 3 wire electric cabling, or cat6).

The way I see it, most lighting and sockets for things like shavers, television, audio, routers, etc. could run over thick copper carrying up to 480W (10 amps at 48 volt). Cat6 with USB-C recepticles could the replace RJ45 with PoE and allow a backbone for things like IP cameras, routers.

Also, once the specs are specified, you wouldn’t actually need to use USB-C plugs. You could just connect the LED lights directly to the 2 copper wires and still use USB-PD to run lower voltage over them. But I can also see a USB-C plug be very handy to plug in light fixtures if you want.

Houses would then only need 110 or higher voltage for heavier appliances. But preferably with some kind of negotiated power delivery for higher voltage, that too could have improved home safety.

This will greatly reduce fire and electrocution hazards in homes.

In essence, it would make low voltage negotiated DC the standard in residential housing.
