I guess it’s the alcohol by volume, sometimes called “degrees” (in France it’s the most common term). 45 is quite a lot for wine though, but it could be for liqueur (people with actual knowledge corrected me below, it is actually degree Oeschle, which indicates the density of sugar in grape)
Why did someone add the middle finger emoji at some point though?

1·1 month agoZorinOS for closest match to Windows, for my gf who did not care for the OS as long as it didn’t change much of her day to day habits. I now use it myself, and despite a few minor issues and people pointing out that it’s quite out of date software, i’m very happy with it, even for audio/visual/gaming stuff that could be tricky.

5·1 month agoIsnt Pop_OS in the Debian family since its based on Ubuntu?
This sounds sooo cool
Lmms seems to still have activity on its github, though you’re right that there were no proper release since 2020-2021. Most options i know of have been presented by others, i’ll just put another reference to yabridge, as it could be useful to get some of your vst up and running.

6·2 months agoMy guess (i dont understand it all that well) is that people are less again using systemd, than against a growing dependency on systemd. If something bad happens to it, it could drag down other big elements of the linux ecosystem with itself.

4·4 months agoI’ve heard that SSD have a relatively limited number of write cycles, and that wiping/compacting data can even be a slightly bad thing in this regard. I am not sure at all if this is true though, don’t take my word for it and correct me if i’m wrong.

Science Memes@mander.xyz•Can any scientists confirm this important fact?Français
41·4 months agoI’m not backing the take itself, as other said it is widely extrapolation, but i don’t really understand how the fact that cats meowing only/mostly at their mom and humans would invalidate the theory that humans and cats are the same category in cats’ minds, since they use it for both cats and humans. It could indicate that they consider humans kinda like parents cats or just parents, maybe, but i don’t see how it indicates that they could consider humans as non cats.
From what the wikipedia page tells, under this hypothesis atlantic will stop widening in about 125 millions years, and begin to shrink.
Did you talk about the alcohol volume, or the Oechsle scale ? I was thinking the same as you in terms of numbers, but someone corrected me. Fun to learn about it on Fediverse rather than in the vineyards, but i’ll be sleeping less dumb anyway !
