Blood sugar, perhaps, but the real long-term issue is the resistant blood cells. HIIT helps wear those out faster so they’re replaced with newer, hopefully less resistant ones. Exercise like cycling where you hit a stride and your heart rate plateaus isn’t effective for that, is my understanding.

I’m a lifelong bike commuter and trail rider. I ride a minimum of 50 miles a week. It the wrong kind of exercise for this.

Sugar. I’m prediabetic and this shit is everywhere. I know, medically, what I need to do: significantly cut back for 6-9 months until the insulin-resistant blood cells are replaced by normal ones, and start doing HIIT exercises to move that closer to 6 than 9.

But like, doing anything consistently for 6 months is a challenge for me, much less avoiding something that gives me the happy brain chemicals.

The larger the file, the more patterns that can be compressed. Plus some of the dictionary overhead will be duplicated in multiple files.

The single file should be, at most, no larger than the sum of smaller files. But potentially much smaller.

It happens when the cars with the aftermarket sound systems roll by, because it still happens when we can hear it, but it also happens when it’s too far away for anyone else to hear. I associate it with deep bass, but I don’t actually know what’s causing the effect.

If I can’t hear it close, how do I know it’s closed?

I need that sensory feedback.

I can hear baselines (from blocks away!) that my family can’t hear at all. Or, hear isn’t the right word, but I feel it as an ache in my ears and head.

Oh, my kids are generally well-behaved. But that doesn’t mean I can relax.

Sadly, I shop with my minor children in tow so no shopping environment will ever be calm or quiet for me.

They generally each get a new set of pajamas, a new set of gloves, and a new stylish sweatshirt or jacket every year. Sometimes those are from an aunt or grandparent, but usually from us.

Most of the rest of their Christmas presents from us are via the gift economy.

Toys, electronics, games, and media generally come from the grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

We already restrain them more than at any other point in history, and I think that is likely to keep improving.
