  • I once had a problem with an ASUS notebook. I think it was the touchpad. So I looked in dmesg and found something like:

“HID something something was configured with flag 1. If this is incorrect, try the command blah blah flag=0.”

Ran the command and it was fixed.

I’ve never seen such a beautiful error in Windows. And I really lost my respect when I tried to calibrate an external screen on a Mac because that felt like Linux from 2016.

    This is just hackerman posting.

You’ve got the paint mircophone thing, which requires someone to physically be at (your) location and install hardware, but not encrypted DNS, or not - you know - just posting your current whereabouts to social media?

Someone being physically near you and installing specialized hardware is quite a threat level.

Fucking: “Cars will collect telemetry locally to be shared when you visit auto repair shops.” DUDE. They have mobile data in these things. I can’t even. Your list is so thoughtless.

And what’s second hand clothing gonna do for you, if the people surveying you have eyes and object permanence?

1l of (4°C) water weighs 1kg. 1kg (of anything) is 1000g. 1g of water is 1cm³. Stack 1000 1cm³ blocks to get a 10m high column. This column exerts 100kPa of pressure on its base. 1N would accelerate it by 1m/s every second. And to heat it by 1°C requires 1kcal.

Meanwhile if you convert feet to miles, you get 5,280, for some reason.

Not even fully boiling. To quote Wikipedia, because I’m lazy:

    The liquid moves in a controlled, continuous flow while subjected to temperatures of 71.5 °C (160 °F) to 74 °C (165 °F), for about 15 to 30 seconds, followed by rapid cooling to between 4 °C (39.2 °F) and 5.5 °C (42 °F).

Literally 30 seconds of “pretty hot”. And people are risking serious illness, even death, over some mythical beliefs about how nutrition works.

As someone who grows figs in their living room:

Most commercial (and even hobbyist) fig varieties are parthenocarpic, meaning they don’t require pollination.

And fig wasps don’t look like that. They’re tiny little guys that most people would probably mistake for a very small ant.

And even if the fig was pollinated by a wasp, it uses enzymes to break down the insects body, to protect itself from mold and other pathenogens that such may cause.

Basically; fig waps are itsy bitsy wittle wupies, while figs are digesting their dead mothers corpses, because they are metal as fuuuuuck.

  • it even has a tutor

Yeah, people are just lazy. I remember when I invented a new login screen and was told it was “difficult”, “confusing” and “took some getting used to”.

It even came with a free 100-page manual and a 4-hour master class. Some people, I tell you!

^This is meant more as a joke than an actual critique, even if it kind of reflects my thoughts. But ultimatly, I thought it was a funny bit.^
