I fucking hope so. I shouldn’t need a gig of RAM just to run mIRC with gifs aka Slack.

Just the occasional holier-than-thou speed crackdowns. Nothing for the people totally ignoring the road.

Fucking.
Wild.
That kind of behaviour should just be an immediate and permanent revocation of the license, car towed on the spot. Fiddling with phone to get directions or dismiss a notification is one thing but actively watching entertainment?
I have ADHD. It’s not super severe but it’s not great. I can drive 16 hrs (with appropriate breaks) without the radio. I will admit, I tend not to be super respectful of speed limits. But driving is enough stimulation for my scatterbrained self. Brain rot is a hell of a drug.

We’ve never had better technology to build safer cars and streets, and yet here we are. Pedestrian detection and all, installed on a vehicle that’s got a front grille as tall as a person.
I saw someone watching a movie on their phone as they drove the other day, also a probable factor.

More like “What the Irish government did (to drive the economy forward without thinking about long term impacts to services and reliance on robber barons)”
They created a tax haven which created some jobs but doesn’t really capture on the value creation.

It is very infrequent that I find myself needing a form of entertainment. Generally, when I am unable to find it on the high seas, it is entirely unobtainable through legal channels.
It is far more frequent that I find myself purchasing a thing I have previously pirated.

So what’s the problem with a book that portrays the historical period with a degree of accuracy?

Hiding our children from the past only dooms us to repeat it.

Now you’re saying this?

In comparison to tech rivals, they actively don’t collect a lot of the data they could be gathering and its been argued it’s one reason Siri is so ineffably stupid in comparison to eg google.

Not to defend Apple’s other problems, but they do market the concept that they are one of the very few tech companies that don’t sell data.
For now.

Cool. I’m considering replacing my aging Pfsense box (which there’s nothing wrong with) with a UI router; presently I don’t need more than 100mbit. The integrated wifi doesn’t meet my needs though.

What are the unifi bits? I don’t recognize them but I’m no expert.
R/unifi was full of complaints but I bet a lot of it is selection bias. My UISP gear is pretty close to bulletproof.
Cool idea with the diy rack. I wonder how competitive it is with a “real” rack but it’s so dependent on location and what you want in it and so on.

And I think that’s why I haven’t finished it tbh. I lost the drive to get there.

It’s on my watch list but considering I haven’t finished Dexter… i might see it in 2050.

Yeah, I think that’s a big part of it. My in laws watch tv religiously from 5-10 every night and that’s what a lot of people did on cable, and some people watch in the morning too. It’s pretty crazy to me because I grew up without a tv. (Mind you I’m scrolling my phone). But that’s the scenario for episodic tv. 30 min of “content”, 10 min of development, and 20 min of ads.

I disagree. I don’t think episodic TV cranking out 24 episodes in a season is the best way to do it. There’s too much filler and not enough attention paid to the overall story arc. Many shows were excellent for seasons 1-2 but then the creativity faded.
There is a middle ground, I think. Breaking bad, for example, had a contiguous storyline, but also had limited episodes. Critically, I think, the network didn’t come in and say “can you do another 3 seasons of the same thing”.

My first question, having a limited amount of experience with kilns, is how hot the hose will be getting? Depending on the temperature, a window vent could melt.
I would probably just use a simple aluminum exhaust vent though the building envelope. You can put some metal caging around the vent to keep animals out. Usually you’d also have a backdraft damper to keep air out too.
Typically vinyl siding will have a much lower melting temperature than electrical wires but I would as you say keep them separated. I wouldn’t want to make a lot of work of hanging the hose up every time.
One thing to note is that flexible ducting provides vastly more air resistance than solid ducting, so if you’re making a longer run and/or have a few bends, it may be worth considering.
I don’t believe for a second his family is holding the bag.
