I enjoyed the first titles (borderline incest aside) but I was sad when they switched the visual style and then stopped playing. But I remember how I immediately went for the second game after finishing the first.
Maybe someday they’ll do a 2D pixel version of the newer games like they did a 3D rerelease of the first :)

According to the rest: it’s not Team Cherry’s DC who’s complaining, but the other way round. That the game lacks creativity and variety in terms of gameplay and enemies was the gist of the negative reviews I read (and misunderstandings regarding the genre). Nothing made up as well. Trying to blame the unexpected release of along awaited title for the bad start of their own game is just stupid, no need to come up with anything else.
Sounds to me like the Hell is Us creative director is a bit salty about their medium release (80 88% pos reviews) on Steam and tries to find a scapegoat. While the game seems to actually lack some love and creativity compared to Silksong or upcoming Hades 2.
To be fair: if you ever found an unexpected larger amount of money (unexpected pizza for a dog must feel like finding a few hundred bucks at least) in a bush, you would check it again from time to time as well. Just in case ¯_(ツ)_/¯
