Right I used to think Android would be smart enough to maintain the illusion of an open platform alternative to Apple that doesn’t restrict users as heavily, but even Android is moving towards a locked down platform that doesn’t let users sideload apps or install alternative OS, if this succeeds then I’m quite sure Microsoft will follow suit the greedy fucks that they are. We need more alternative phone companies and easier ways to make cross platform apps that can run on non Apple and Android phones easily
Maybe that was the case if you buy everything from legit sources, when I grew up in the 90s my dad bought me some Chinese console and I could buy bootleg cartridges for it for pretty cheap, I have fond memories of playing contra and ninja turtles, Mario etc with my siblings and using an erasor to wipe the connectors of the cartridges. Once online games became popular that couch coop style of gaming just disappeared and the world’s lesser for it.

I just checked my library on protondb, seems like most games in my libraries are platinum rated for compatibility and some are even native, there are a few mostly multiplayer games that are incompatible, but I hardly play multiplayer games so I think this means my next computer upgrade is gonna be Linux. I wonder if it’s possible to use a Linux home server as a personal computer as well
Is there a way to confirm which games in your library will work well on Linux for your specific hardware, gaming is the only thing keeping me on Windows for now, I’d be happy to get rid of windows if I could run most of my games on Linux and the rest maybe I can run on Wine or a virtual desktop

Why don’t they pick people who are passionate about the source material and give them some amount of creative freedom and a decent budget. Why did you not like full stack work, I used to work in full stack roles years ago but that was before all the front end framework boom. Recently I’ve mostly been working as a backend engineer and now that I got laid off I’m looking for new roles but I find most roles are either full stack or expect you to have some knowledge of front end work like react or typescript etc. I’m debating if I should try to go for these roles just to have the experience on my resume and make it more future proof or stick to backend
I usually have lots of tabs open for different topics of interest that I split into separate windows. I also unload all these windows other than the active window that I’m on, but I find Firefox still eats a lot of RAM and at times becomes slow. I use a session manager extension to save windows that I want for future reference. Still I wish there was a better way, so that Firefox doesn’t consume most of my ram. Are there any Firefox forks that are memory efficient. I don’t want to switch to a chromium based browser if possible.
