New Communities@lemmy.world•FuckYourHeadlights - A community for people to organise and vent about ridiculously bright lightsEnglish
3·9 months agoIt’s something I have noticed too. 9/10 times an oncoming car is blinding me, it seems to be a Tesla. And not because their high beams are on. It might be confirmation bias, but it just seems like Tesla headlights have dogshit beam control optics on top of having fairly bright light sources.

The link you decided not to follow gives a lot of context. Although in French, which I do not speak.
These people weren’t murdered at Dachau. They are being cremated there, after dieing aboard the prisoner transport train from the Royallieu-Compiègne internment camp.
The German Wikipedia about the Sonderkommando photographs describes those as the only surviving photos taken by prisoners inside the camps.
Thanks! I hate it…

Star Trek @lemmy.world•Picard's Famous Tea Cup Is Coming Back, Years After It Was Discontinued
8·1 year agoHuh, If you visit a second hand shop in Denmark, there’s a good chance you’ll find a set of the originals. Actually I’m pretty sure my father has a set in the back of the cupboard. They were pretty common in the 90’s.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is something that gets a lot of hate for absolutely no reason?
13·2 years agoThat depends on where you live though. Here in Denmark, as an example, we have a certificate called “Statskontrolleret økologisk” which basically translates to “Government-certified organic”. There are specific guidelines and rules that need to be followed, to be allowed to use this seal on your product.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is something that gets a lot of hate for absolutely no reason?
13·2 years agoI find myself thinking this a lot. Someone goes; “and that’s my theory about…” And I’m like; that’s not a theory, that’s a hypothesis…

11·2 years agoSoftmaker Freeoffice has worked brilliantly for me. It’s very familiar if you are used to Microsoft Office, and it seems to do the compatibility part very, VERY well.

World News@lemmy.ml•EU poised to water down new car pollution rules after industry lobbying
3·2 years agoHonestly; instead of trying to tighten emissions restrictions (perhaps beyond feasible levels?), the EU should have just moved this date closer…
Edit: I just realized: I wonder how the ban affects all the talk about synthetic and bio-fuels? Those are still based on internal combustion. Then again; although ideally CO2-neutral, they still emit NOx and particulate.

World News@lemmy.ml•EU poised to water down new car pollution rules after industry lobbying
39·2 years agoI feel that, at some point, the emissions standards get so restrictive, that it makes them impossible to practically meet. Making it a ban in all but name. I’m not familiar enough, with the original proposal for Euro7. But it seems like it might be at that threshold. The European Union needs to make up their mind, whether or not they want to allow combustion vehicles at all…

As fast as it will roll down a hill. A non-critical mass of plutonium isn’t going to produce any significant heat for the boiler.
